We had ourselves a little parenting WIN this evening. We did our usual Thursday night big cook-up and I decided to do pancakes (ready made frozen from Woollies!) for dessert.
Normally the kids eat really well as they love roast potatoes, rice and chicken. But, of course, the little buggers knew there was dessert, so the only one to eat was Daniel. Up to now we haven’t really had to give them a hard time about eating supper, but tonight was balls-to-the-wall time. We agreed that it wasn’t fair that Daniel would eat and get dessert and the girls not eat their supper and still get dessert. We felt that they understood the instruction very well.
So, after much pleading the pancakes were put on the table and Daniel given one. And they were NOT impressed. Isabel caught on very quickly and ate a fair amount of food. But the drama-queen sister? OMG. The earth stopped moving. And we ignored her. So, eventually she also ate some of her food and was rewarded with a pancake.
We had tears in our eyes, it was so funny.
And they aren’t pancakes, they are pandakoek.
Someone (that is about to be unfriended) gave Daniel a book for his birthday with all the Pixar stories and flashing lights and the Alladin song. We limit it to one story from that book and his current favourite is “Rasta 2” (Ratatouille).
He was trying to get DH’s attention earlier, so he grabbed his face and he said: ‘Pappa, gee my jou oë!’
Lastly, here is a pic of them yesterday morning. They were meant to be getting dressed. Sigh.
That pic is gorgeous! I can just see Daniel as a teenager, looking pretty much the same 🙂
Cute as buttons. Love the way Daniel is sitting. Great idea on getting the girls to eat supper. Little ones can become very picky eaters.
what a gorg pic – Daniel looks like he knows the hell he is in for with sisters hahaha 🙂
Love the pandakoek 🙂 Too cute man
Oh your little man is so clever! I think pandakoek is a much better name.
So glad that you managed to get some food into the girls. xx
Your kids are absolutely GORGEOUS!
Pandakoek is such a wonderful name!
What a cool post – I’m just loveing everything here!
Pandakoek 😀
Rasta 2 😀
Dinner drama (trying not to laugh in front of the kids) 😀
And that pic just says it all 😀
I couldn’t find Tristan this morning to get him dressed. Then the blanket moved on the floor. BUSTED!

Love “Gee my jou oe”. We always tell D to look at us when we’re talking to him (read: reprimanding him) now I want to say “Give me your eyes”! Gorgeous pics as always. So looking forward to seeing you and yours tomorrow.
Thatnks LL, can’t wait to see you and the boys!
LOL, he was probably cold, poor boy!
Thanks!!
🙂 are we seeing you tomorrow?
LOL, I thought so too!
🙂
He has a good idea of what he’s in for..
I tried to get the 3 of them to pose with their hands like that. What was I thinking?
LOL, he has his hands full!
Phew, they drive us nuts sometimes..
gonna try… got the address into the GPS so I’m one step closer – just gonna depend on whether or not I have a car to use x
Ag no man, look at Daniel. Cute.
