My day at the beach. Yes, the beach.

The kids’ school had an outing to the beach today to pick up trash.  Which, in principle, is a fantastic idea, except for the little matter of a gale force wind and 15ºC temperature.

My kids behaved really well until I decided to chat to one of he parents and another Mom pulled my sleeve and pointed out that Daniel, his friend and the ‘sussies’ in hot pursuit, had run back along the beach and were almost back to the cars.  This Mommy uttered many, many nasty little words whilst running across the beach, trying to catch up to them.

Here is the mountain, just for incase you doubted my take on the weather.

Here are the girls, very busy picking up trash:

Here is Daniel and his bestest, bestest friend in the whole wide world.  (Yes, his pants are the wrong way around.  He wanted the zip at the back.  Don’t even ask.)

I’m still finding sand in places there really shouldn’t be sand.  Ever.

  1. I don’t want to imagine where you found sand! Gorgeous pics, but I see what you mean now about the weather! OMG if my two had been there…. No, that is just too painful to spare a thought for.

Glad you survived πŸ™‚ Even if you’re a bit windswept and sandblasted πŸ™‚

  2. Ai sounds like you had as much fun as we did in the rain, gotta love these beach outings in winter!

  3. Great pics, especially the one of the mountain! Ja, I can see the girls were “really” into picking up trash.
Daniel is a clever boy, mom. The zip at the back allows for quick and easy potty times (duh!).

  4. YES! Yes, please! Then I’ll have in-laws (sort of) close to the beach for cheap family vacations, how exciting.

  5. Lovely photos as always. Looks very hillbilly out there! (Just realised hillbilly is a Scottish expression from rhyming slang meaning windy and chilly)
