Office parties

Our office party is tomorrow.  And there’s a theme.  I hate themes.  In any shape or form.

The “festive” team have gone through so much effort to put it together on a very small budget and I don’t want to seem ungrateful.

But I still hate it.  I find work functions akward since a lot of my “old” friends left and I had kids.

Maybe I’m just getting old and I’m just too anal about my time, because I honestly don’t have the time.  I would much rather stick pens in my eyes.

Are there people out there that enjoy work parties?  Anyone?

  1. Nope not me!
I’m also very protective of MY time! And I hate being forced to sit at a table with people I really don’t like πŸ˜€

  2. Where I worked before it was like partying with your friends – always something everyone looked forward to.

Haven’t got that sense here at the new place but will see what happens on the 11th

  3. Tania, I feel your ‘pain’ where office parties are concerned. I don’t see the point in sitting at a table and watching my colleagues get royally sloshed. On principle I won’t drink alcohol at office functions, which doesn’t go down well with the powers that be.

  4. Ughhhhh, work parties suck….I don’t like going to the Sanlam ‘Oom and Tannie Do’s’ at all….even when they say dress casual the ‘Tannies’ come all blinged up with their ‘Big Hair and hak skoene’
My old work parties weren’t much fun either as usually the domestic staff would start a fist fight and that would be the end of the function for another year.

  5. I actually like office parties. More for the free food and drinks than anything. Definitely not for the company…LOLxx

  6. LOL – hate them as much as you πŸ™‚ My old work place always had fancy dress – drove me mad πŸ˜›
