What are you doing for Mandela Day?
I, as it turns out, am attending a kiddy party and cooking soup for some farm workers. Daniel’s school is giving the farm’s workers lunch on Sunday and a whole lot of parents are chipping in and making a day of it. I am on soup duty, so am cooking soup for 10 people.
But, I’m going to have to get the soup done today. Here’s why:
Our kids were invited to a class mate’s birthday party today and off we went to the party at the un-Godly hour of 09h30 on a Saturday morning. It’s hard enough for me to mobilise everyone on a normal day as it is! I had a sweet deal with hubby, he stayed at home to watch the rugby (snort) and I took the kids off as I knew there were many helping hands. In exchange I could have a super long nap this avie.
We were a whopping 20 minutes late I have to (shamefully) admit and it was held at a Kids Play place.
When I finally roll in, make-up on and kids dressed up carrying gift they say sorry, wrong day, the party is only tomorrow. And then I just wonder how I could get it so terribly wrong. What a nut.
So I thought, hey, we are here now,so we stayed and hubby got to watch the rugby in peace anyway. I watched the men’s expressions of horror at the rugby with morbid fascination. But I’m no sports commentator, so I’ll reserve judgement on the Springboks..
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend, catch up soon!
ahh we all have porridge brain from time to time. Love what you are doing for Mandela day
That’s hardly a parenting fail. Just a sure sign of an over-worked Mummy!
LOL…I had the same thing happen to me once. Only we pitched up the day AFTER the party. My son was highly annoyed with me and I was so, so embarrassed. For Mandela Day I went through our cupboards for clothing to donate. Our church had a drive for a children’s home. We managed to fill 3 black bags.
Amazing how much stuff we have we don’t use!
I’m happy I was at least 23.5 hours early for the party..
Thanks Cams!
Look who’s talking 🙂
