Prayers please

Late on Saturday night I received an sms informing me that an ex-colleague’s 18 month old daughter drowned on New Year’s Eve in their pool and is on life support in the Red Cross Children’s Hospital.

Initially she was declared brain dead and then there was some brain activity yesterday.  Now it seems she is really not doing well.  I don’t have all the details, just what other friends have told me.

What has been the most amazing is how people have rallied around this family in prayer.  The outpour of messages on Facebook, people that I haven’t spoken to in ages have contacted me just to check if I knew and ask me to pray for this little girl.

For some reason this has really been playing on my mind, so much so that I have been battling to sleep and am wandering around the house at night, checking on the kids.  This is just a little too close to home.

Please keep this little girl in your prayers, her Mom is so special and please please be careful around pools with your little ones.

  1. What a terrible tragedy. Drowning is one of my greatest fears for my children. Just last week I pulled a little girl out of a public pool. She had gone in on a waterslide not realising that the water was too deep for her. Her mother ran and jumped in to get her but I don’t think either of them could swim and they were panicking so much they were pulling each other under. It happened so quickly as these accidents always do. Will definitely pray for your friend and her family.

  2. Our prayers go out to the whole family and to you as well.
Be strong and May the Grace of The Maker be with you and this family.

  3. Actually, I surprised myself by calmly assessing the situation and then doing what was necessary to pull out the little girl and then help her mother out. It happened so quickly my DH didn’t even know anything was amiss. My sister saw everything so she took over watching K in the paddling pool. Afterwards I was quite shaken about what could have happened.

  4. Dear one … I know the feeling of holding a limp little body of a grandchild (same age), all blue and so cold, in my arms and feel so helpless and in shock. It is all water that holds a problem when not checked. He luckely survived, but the harm was done and we will never forget that day.

I did a special prayer for the little one and I believe that God is holding her small hand in His. We trust that He knows best and that He will give her back to your family, recovered and be a angel child that will shine His Light to the world.

May your prayers Be Blessed and stay strong 🙂

  7. What a dreadful thing to happen. It can come about so quickly, too, and it simply isn’t possible to keep them away from potentially hazardous water all the time. We have gone for the option of ‘water-safe’ training while still virtually a baby. Even that won’t be effective if they panic.

I so hope that little one recovers!

  8. How sad! That’s why I do not like pools and hubby and I have decided to not even thik of one at our home while Babycakes is still small. She will be in my prayers.

  9. I’ve come to realise that danger lurks everywhere when it comes to children. On Sat we went to a park and a little one wandered around and stood in the way of a moving swing, she took a knock on the head. I was so shaken I never let Q out of my sight. I truly hope your friend’s child will pull through, she’ll be in my prayers.

  10. What a nightmare for the parents and everyone around them including you, there are no words that can fix this but am holding thumbs very tightly for a positive outcome. And a huge hug to you, try to get some sleep and stay positive, think positive and you will draw positive automatically towards yourself xxxxxx

  11. This must be the worst thing for a parent! I will be thinking and praying for you all with special prayers for that little girl.
Love and hugs to you and your family. xx
