Autumn

We have a view on the Durbanville Hills vineyards from our kitchen window and last week hubby and I were talking about how green they still are and how beautiful they look.  They were a wonderful bright green.

Tonight I looked out and I was blown away at the change in colour – they are BROWN!  It is amazing that there can be such a difference in just a week.

All of a sudden it is also darker earlier and there is a definite chill in the air.  I underestimated the chill in the air this morning and ended up with sandals at work.  My feet were freezing!  (and the minute my feet are cold I am miserable!)

Amazing stuff how nature works!

  1. Hate that it’s so dark in the morning, makes getting up even more difficult. Also got caught in sandals today

  2. I know, you can feel winter is coming. Not a big winter fan, but at least its only 3 months. That’s the great thing about living in Africa!

  3. Was watching the weather forecast last night and said to Hubby – “shame, poor people in Cape Town, its gonna rain this week-end AND a cold front is approaching” – so it will be a chilly one for you.
Last year I was on maternity leave the whole winter months. Lekker…

  4. That change happens so fast doesn’t it.
Noticed it at Altydgedacht when taking Mom to Tygervalley on Wednesday. Dark mornings make getting up at 5.30 a little harder!
