Aida se moer

Help please, can someone point me in the right direction?

We rented a holiday house in December and left on the 26th, without our R 1000 breakage deposit.  Nothing was broken (except a lamp-cover which shouldn’t cost more than R30) and the agent agreed brushed this off when we took a walk through the house before we left.

I have emailed and begged and cajoled and threatened since then, but no deposit has magically appeared in my bank account.  The agent says that I should contact the lawyers (I paid the money into their account) and ask them for the money but, quite frankly, she arranged for me to pay the money, she needs to arrange payment back to me?  To date, I have not had any communication or response from the lawyers either.

I have gone onto the Hello Peter website, but Aida is not listed, so would it be worth my while to complain there?  They also don’t list a Head Office on their website so I can call and complain.

To say the least, the service was lacking with all the interaction I had with this woman.  Booking mixed up, waiting for forms, losing of signed forms, dirty house when we arrived etc etc etc.

Any suggestions??

  1. eee. this sort of thing really grates me. I would post it on Hello Peter anyway (may not get results, but at least then other people will know!) and ask the lady to provide you with contact details for management. I know this sounds HORRIFIC, but consider having a man (your husband? brother?) phone if u get no joy from her. I know that is not the most feminist suggestion in the world, but it may intimidate her a little.
    good luck!

  2. Phone your local Aida branch and ask them for head office’s number. I don’t know if they have such a thing, but each branch has a principal which should be able to assist.

Do these people know who they’re dealing with? 😀 How dare they mess you around?

  3. As you say there seems to be no Head Office listed, but maybe try the franchises number on their contact page, http://www.aida.co.za/pages/contactus

They should be able to give you the best number to call. Otherwise there are some email addresses for regional managers, maybe sent an email, although phoning is a bit more immediate.

    Best of luck.
