I have been such a bad blogger this week!
My dietician put me on a “gentle” detox. READ: 3 days of detox headaches. BUT I haven’t cheated and I haven’t had coffee, wheat, sugar or milk in 4 days. We are normally wheat free anyway, but this was an additional. I don’t even miss the coffee anymore..
My lunches and suppers this week have been:
Tuesday night: Roasted chickpeas with brown Basmati
Wednesday night: Quinoa (pron. kee-noe-aa) with peas and carrots
Thursday night: Lentil dahl
All in all not too bad, and hubby has been eating my stuff as side dishes along with our normal salads. I don’t know if I can keep up the vegetarian lifestyle though, I do like the odd piece of pork belly and chicken wing..
One of hubby’s colleauges’ hubby died suddenly last week and we went to the funeral on Tuesday. It was one of the strangest funerals I have ever been to, almost cold and clinical. There were a lot of people there, but very little emotion.
I did this post recently about funerals. I said that I didn’t want any sad music, but I take it back. Roll on the Celine Dion, Leonard Cohen and all the soppiest music you can find, the people must cry!
And then, we have a bit of a hotchpotch of friends coming over tomorrow. They are all old friends from Hotel days that have now gotten married and had kids. (mostly) Amongst these are a Vegetarian, a Vegan and a Milk and Meat Jewish friend. Should be interesting! I have decided on a braai, so the Jewish friends are bringing their own meat and I’ll make some quinoa salad, almost like couscous, just wheat free.
I have also found a recipe for cashew and polenta bread which I want to give a bash. Wish me luck! Any suggestions are welcome, I get a little stressed about stuff like this, I would hate for them to not be able to eat for some reason I don’t know about!
Very lastly, I think my neighbours think I am a screaming banshee as I LOST it with our 3 kids that just trash the house and jump on our kitchen table last night. So I did a bit of yelling. And I think she is already pissed off with me because I asked her to put a bell around her cat’s neck so I can hear when he comes into MY house at night through MY bedroom window and eat MY cat’s food and pee on MY duvet..
EDIT: Hubby and I are off to see The Time Traveller’s Wife tonight, can’t wait!
Don’t worry about your neighbour, if she is p/off about the bell, send your cat to pee on her duvet!
Check out my post! xx
You sweet thing!
Hubbie wants to invite a whole bunch of our Moslem clients over and I’m also stressing as what to feed everyone so all can eat and enjoy.
You do give yourself a task with this mixed bunch…bit stuck on what else you can feed them
Good for you on the detox and good luck with the cooking for your diverse guests.
Eish…I know all about that banshee behaviour. And I also want people to cry buckets of tears at my funeral.
Enjoy your dinner..xx
ugh I need to do your detox. But what I really NEED is to see that movie, loved the book! let me know how it is 😉
LOVED the movie, cried my little heart out, had hubby patting my hand halfway through.
First 2 days of detox was tough, but I’m feeling great now. For the first time in years I woke up on Sat feeling awake. How cool is that!
