School outing

We went off to Gan Eden farm this morning for Daniel’s school outing and it was hysterical.

Here is a pic of him and his 2 little friends as we arrived:

Keeping shoes on him is impossible.  First he stepped in some black goo in the potbelly pig enclosure and had to literally step out of his gumboots as they were stuck.  I shudder to think what was in that water..

Then they fed some horses and went off to each collect an egg in the chicken coop.  He was barefoot.  Lovely.

We chucked him the bath when we got home this avie.  It was not a pretty sight.

There is a Mom that complained about Daniel’s snotty nose ages ago and I have been avoiding her like the plague ever since.  She always comes to all the kiddy events, but never speaks to anyone and doesn’t really allow her child to interact with the other children.  Another Mom commented on how rude she is today.  I couldn’t help feeling a little better about not falling over my feet to be nice to her.  She caused me a lot of tears.

DH and I also had our first parent-teacher meeting with M&I’s teacher today.  She is very young and made the very big mistake of

1.  Misspelling Isabel’s name

2.  Misspelling our surname

3.  Saying that she thinks the girls are very much alike.

She won’t be doing that again anytime soon ever.

  1. Don’t you know the best way to experience nature is by squelching it between your toes?! Looks like a fabulous outing.

  2. Oh I wish I could go to that farm! I so miss the farm life.
How on earth does the girl’s teacher make those kind of mistakes?!!! I wish I had been a fly on the wall to hear your comments to her. 😀 xxxx

  3. Agree with LL – kids learn by getting dirty 🙂 Nothing like kids full of mud (and black goop)! It washes off 🙂

As for that other Mom, she sounds like a snob, and there’s always one! (Or more). I also wonder if I’m over reacting about other mommie’s comments, so I also love it when some other mommy reinforces the way I feel!

Uh Oh on M&I’s teacher! Not a great start, but glad you’ve laid down the law! We’re meeting with Tristan’s teacher tonight, and I think we’ll also be having “words”. Tristan’s surname is also spelt incorrectly on his media centre card, and I requested the first week of term that it be corrected and it still hasn’t been done! I also disagree a bit with some comments on his report….

  4. i just watched an episode of HOUSE where the guy got some awful disease cos when he was growing up his parents made sure he NEVER got dirty or played outside or did anything like that. so his immune system never developed and he got some kind of horrific disease … so see? dirt is good for kids 🙂

tut tut to the girls teacher for getting it SO wrong … glad you set her straight!!!

ugh to the snobby mum … least you know its not just you that feels that way about her …

  5. Hey Tania
Adele forwarded your email to me. I’ll be making your blog badge 🙂 Do you know how to load them or should I send a link?
    I’ll email you soon!

  6. As the Omo ad says: No stains, no learning! D’s little friend with the pink crocs is a hoot! Is she wearing her big sister’s crocs? LOL!
