Of Grandparents and printers

I collected the kids a little earlier today and we went to visit my folks.  And it struck me that I end up spending more time with them when we aren’t home, because I’m not doing dishes or some other domestic chore.  Or feeling guilty that I’m not ironing or mopping.  It’s pure slothlike, unadulterated, play and love time.  AND by the time we got home supper was almost finished and hubby had some alone time.

Daniel was building a 104 piece puzzle all by himself, and I finally managed to get a picture of my lovely little man!

Mignon, in true fashion, refused to kiss them goodbye and then was inconsoleable as soon as we were around the corner, crying for ‘kissy from Granny’.

And lastly, my Dad was telling me about someone that did something that upset him.  And it struck me how he has changed in the last 2 years in how he deals with this kind of thing.  Big thumbs up Dad, you rock!  And then of course called me at 7h30pm wanting to know how to print something as he couldn’t get his printer to work.  Have you ever tried to explain ctrl plus p to a 62 yr old?  But he apparently sorted out the problem by whacking the printer a couple of times…

  1. That photo came out so well. S-man is doing a 1000 piece puzzle and I’ve realised I’m pretty good at them. Didn’t know that about myself. Never really had jigsaws in my memory.

  2. What a lovely photo of Daniel. That’s a lot of pieces for a little boy! Oh and I regularly get phoned by my parents to ask how to forward email and such like. My dad’s the one whose totally serious reply to the help desk person’s question “What kind of computer do you have?” was “A beige one.”

  3. great pic!

lol at your dad with his printer. when my mum comes to visit us i often get called at work with things like “there is no picture on the TV” or “how do you play a dvd again?” šŸ™‚

  4. Haha, at ‘a beige one’! I had to explain how to search for and attach a document out of My Documents the other day..

  5. Looove the pic of Boetie! Oh i think my dad’s the worst with PC’s. He was beside himself when he realised the guy I brought home this time and wanted to marry was an ‘It-laaitie’!

  6. I think at least dads are better with technology than moms, mine struggles to change channels on the TV and then glares at programs that are in vernacs (which she obviously can’t understand)

  7. Oh I love jigsaws! Well done D for getting the 104 piece one right šŸ™‚
LOL at your dad! My MIL doesn’t know how to work the DVD player – she always gets Tristan to do it for her LOL šŸ˜€
