Why we should listen to doctors

I went in for this silly little umbilical hernia repair on Monday and came home on Tuesday morning.  I then proceded to try to rest as instructed by the doctor, not easy when there are tantrums and vomiting children in your house.  (Ok, ok, I did stop off at the shops first on the way home)

I later sat down to switch on my pc and felt my t-shirt was wet.  With blood.  Quite a lot.  So, we called our live-in and off we went back to the hospital at 9 pm on Tuesday night.  They kept me overnight to monitor me and back into theatre I went on Wednesday.  I refused a drip and asked for local anesthetic as they ended up putting more stitches in, and I really couldn’t bear being in hospital. (Had much better places to be.)

He was a little worried as my blood wasn’t clotting, but that seems to be sorted.

So, now I’m doing my best to take it easy, but I do get annoyed and frustrated when I cannot feed or pick up the girls or help hubby bath the children or change their clothes and bedding when they vomit – like BOTH of them did tonight!

How am I going to survive 6 weeks of this?

  1. Sjoe, hope you can follow doctor’s orders and take it easy. Accept the help! When I broke my ankle last year that was the hardest lesson to learn – to accept the help. Sterkte!

  2. Hells teeth, what a palavar, sorry that is the Brit coming out in me!
Hope you are feeling a bit better today and that the bleeding is now under control.

  4. Oh my goodness! Take it easy! (I know, easier said than done). But you really must look after yourself. 6 weeks will go past so quickly!
