Thanks for all the lovely comments after yesterday, I had myself a lovely little hour of whining, but have moved on!
I was on the way with Daniel to school yesterday morning and Jack Parow was playing on the radio. And I was singing along quite happily. Until Daniel repeated: ‘Jy’s cooler as ekke, jy’t ‘n tatoo van ‘n slang op jou tette.’ Whilst pointing at his belly button. I was speechless.
The MOB is definitely still on, (thanks for the reminder Cams!!) please check with me tomorrow if I have booked for us. Who else is coming?
Lastly: dear Jewish friends of ours had a son last week and we have been invited to the Brit (circumcision). Please could someone give me the idiot’s guide to attending this very important occasion?

LOL!!! Oh my hat, I would’ve written off the car! I’ve been to a few and what seems to be the done thing is, bring a gift, say the kiddie looks gorgeous, don’t ask to see the wound (that’s if it was done in hospital, don’t faint if the cutting is happening on site and you hear the babe screaming!(will be in another room with only men though) and for the rest, eat drink and be merry!
The Brit is quite an occasion and as far as I remember the men stand around the Rabbi and the baby while the deed is being done. But the one I attended was many years ago and things might have changed.
I know that the Mommy is not in attendance and with all the other ladies until it is all finished. Then you have a party, yummy food!
It is very quick and simple procedure done by a very experienced person.
It is an experience to be sure but a great honour to have been invited. xx See you Saturday. xx
