Daniel’s birthday party is on Saturday from 10h00-12h00 and there are probably going to be about 15 children plus parents in my house as there is major rain predicted in Cape Town. What’s with the Mommies and Daddies coming to parties??
I am trying to figure out how I can keep a bunch of 3 year olds busy indoors for 2 hours without a terrible mess. I did toy with buying cheap brollies and letting them all run around outside, but think that would be career limiting.. I also think that, even if the jumping castle I booked does have a roof, they will probably end up swimming to get to it.
All I have so far is colouring crayons and pictures off the internet and I am trying to source a face painter with no luck.
I have also decided to forego the usual array of foods and will be serving soup and bread. There will of course be the obligatory chocolate cake for the mommies ๐
The party theme is Lion King as Daniel insisted that he wants a Lion cake (I really tried to sell the dinosaur theme, but he wouldn’t hear of it, I had the whole thing planned)
Any suggestions?
Soup and bread sounds wonderful! It is amazing how quickly kids amuse themselves in this kind of situation, maybe you could put out some toys that Daniel doesn’t mind sharing.
Games are a little difficult at the age of 3, but you could try pass the parcel with something for everyone between the layers. Good Luck, will wait to read your post on Monday. x
Balloons that they can throw through something like a hoop? Just don’t inflate the balloons completely (leaving a bit of slack will stop them from bursting so easily).
Or try getting one of those balloon animal kits.
Sorry stuck on balloons today ๐
Get a pinjata (sp?). Although only 3, I saw at my nephew’s party how much fun they had bashing the little donkey.
Great idea!
Good luck. Thatโs a lot of kiddies (and mommies and daddies).
I am keeping my eye on the suggestions as well, coz one day it will be my turn.
Wait, I quickly googled:
http://www.kids-partycabin.com/toddler_party_games.html
seems to have some indoor ideas.
Oh, and what about dress-up?
You could try having the kids decorate their own goodie bags. I tried it at our daughters 4th bday party and they loved those bags and didn’t want to part with them. I bought some brown paper bags (already in bundles) from Cardies and bought a whole bunch of stickers. I wrote each child’s name on a bag and I then devided the stickers, so that each child had the same (heaven help us if one had more stickers than the other)and placed them in each bag. As the kids arrived at the party, I handed them their bag and asked them to decorate the bag and hand it back when they’re done, so that they can get their goodie bags when they leave. They had fun, it doesn’t take long though, but it would help with keeping them occupied for a little bit.
Wow, what a great idea!
Thanks!
Why not do a bit of cup cake decorating as well? Bake cupcakes and then provide each child with a selection of smarties, jelly babies, 100’s & 1000’s ext so that they can decorate their own cupcakes. My 3.5 year old loves this.
