Every day I ponder my gratitude challenge to myself and wonder if I’ll find one thing to be grateful for, let alone three. And every day I find stuff that blows me away. Here is my list for today:
1. Picture this: Monday afternoon, a 2 year old toddler holding on to the front of a shopping trolley, another pushing the trolley whilst Mom duck-walks behind her, steering. And a 4 year old sitting on the little seat. That was us this afternoon at the shops. We are loud, we discuss everything on the shelves and everything that’s still on the list. There is much negotiation about colours of bottles and types of juice and yogurts.
I absolutely love watching people’s expressions in the shops, ranging from awe to shock to horror at the noise we make. Do I care? Not in the least. I am grateful my children feel free enough to express themselves and enjoy the shopping trip as much as I enjoy being there with them.
2. Faith. I am grateful I have faith. And I’m not necessarily talking about the religious kind. I mean the faith to know that whatever was going to hit us this month would be nothing we couldn’t handle. And the faith to know that there would be an answer. Regardless. We had no idea where we were going to find money to cover our bills at the end of the month, but out of the blue some extra money is hopefully coming our way. And our friends are rallying around us in such amazing ways we are speechless.
3. Supper. I attempted Chicken Chasseur tonight. Those of you that visit here often know that cooking/baking/frying eggs are not my strong point. For starters I get bored with reading recipes so often make up my own stuff. Let’s just say, it usually doesn’t end well. When I showed hubby the recipe I wanted to make tonight he went Ah! Chicken Chasseur, I’ve made that before. And I thought ‘gulp’. But, I can gratefully say I didn’t fuck it up, it was lovely. Even the kids ate it. I am very grateful for that.
what a heart-warming day then 🙂
Very!
I’ve never had a bad meal with you! It’s always been delicious and you can’t hide and say DH made it ‘cos I’ve witnessed you prepping it. Always yum.
Like… let me quickly whip up a honey cake for you. Duh! Chick you are super mom!
Wahaha, that was lucky 🙂
ps, you’re a keeper!
Enjoying your lists.
Thanks for this, always uplifting. To enjoy shopping with three littlies is an art in itself. So yaboo sucks to anyone who thinks you’re too noisy. At least they’re not crying and having tantrums.
A meal that you made an effort for that the children ate – that is really something to be grateful for!
I know! How awesome is that!
LOL, they can all take a hike 🙂
‘takes a bow’
Ok, I draw the line at actually enjoying shopping with my two! I’m very grateful that they don’t knock down displays, or crash into the All Gold bottles, and yes, they’re very noisy as well. But I can’t say I *enjoy* it! I do enjoy watching people’s faces when Connor comes hurtling along with the ‘baby trolley’, and I run behind shouting!
Well done for not fucking up the supper 😀 And congratulations that your kids ate it! Must be a winner 🙂 Feel free to share the recipe 🙂
i really love that you started this challenge!!!
I can see you 4 in the shops, chatting and ducking not to hit other people and commenting on every little item on the shelves :)!!!
awesome gratitudes!
PHRT!!! to all those that look at you funny cos you’re noisy!
No. 2….that’s also where I am at the moment. I am grateful that i made it through this month, and I have faith that the next three weeks will deliver what I need to make it through next month.
You are so inspiring, dear girl. I likey!

I don’t ‘enjoy’ the shopping so much as the crazy company 🙂
It’s hysterical!
Love the faith one……good to be positive and to trust yourself to handle what is dealt your way.
Think you don’t give yourself enough credit for your cooking…..you did damn well the other night
🙂
Mwahmwahmwah, we all inspire each other!
I didn’t peg you for one of the ‘shock and horror’ folk 🙂
Mwah, thanks KweziCola!
🙂 thanks Deblet!
I love these posts! I still have loud discussions with Jess about foodstuffs. She will tell anyone who will listen in the shops about the carb/protein/sugar content of anything! Strange thing is that they seem to really listen to her!. xx
